About Pender County
Pender County is a largely rural area in the southeastern coastal region of North Carolina with a rapidly growing population. According to the their 2010 Community Health Assessment Report, Pender is sparsely populated with 47.2 people per square mile, with most of the population clustered in a few small communities and on Topsail Island. It is the 5th largest county geographically in the state, with Burgaw as its county seat.
According to the 2010 census, the county experienced greater than 25% growth in the population from 2000-2010. Pender County is well positioned for growth and development with strategic priorities related to economic development, expansion of public infrastructure, growth management, quality of life and education.
